Transcendence, Singularity, and Reality?

Wow! What a mouthful. There is a new movie trailer out for the movie “Transcendence” in which Johnny Depp plays a terminally ill scientist who uploads his mind to a computer. This grants him power beyond his wildest dreams, and soon he becomes unstoppable. He promotes singularity which is the point at which artificial intelligence exceeds human intelligence.

Tremendous effort is being expended in this area of science including genetic manipulation and man/machine implants. While some of this can be written off as good in the area of medical aids, much of it goes way beyond moral and ethical boundaries amounting to man playing GOD. The question then becomes why?
For a person without GOD, this quest is completely logical and is an attempt to make what is temporary on earth eternal. The problem is, this entire material universe and everything in it is temporary and will be destroyed by GOD when he creates a new heaven and a new earth as revealed in Revelation 21:1 and 2 Peter 3:7.
For the believer in GOD and His Son Jesus, the real transcendence is not the uploading of our consciousness to a machine, but our resurrection and transformation to a new eternal body that will be like Christ and be able to manifest itself in both the material and spiritual realms.

1Jn 3:2 Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

1Co 15:51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1Co 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.

2Pe 3:7 But by the same word the heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

Rev 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
Rev 21:2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
