Although one of my favorite songs by the band Styx, the grand illusion that we will see come upon us in these last days is what the apostle Paul refers to as a strong delusion.
In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, Paul explains the events that would happen prior to the return of our Lord and believers being gathered to Him.
There will be a rebellion or falling away from the faith and the man of lawlessness (aka. Antichrist) will be revealed. However, how he is recognized by each person will be determined by whether or not you believe or have rejected Jesus as your savior. For those who choose to reject or refuse the truth, this man of lawlessness will appear to be the world’s messiah or savior with apparent proof through false signs and miracles performed by his false prophet. This strong delusion will be very convincing and almost convincing enough to deceive GOD’s elect
So even if you see proof of aliens over your head and someone in the near future with a scarlet robe reveals to the world that mister X is your savior, stand strong in your faith in Jesus Christ to the end.
2Th 2:9 The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders,
2Th 2:10 and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
2Th 2:11 Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false,
2Th 2:12 in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Mar 13:22 for there shall arise false Christs and false prophets, and shall show signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, the elect.
Rev 13:11 Then I saw another beast rising out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb and it spoke like a dragon.
Rev 13:12 It exercises all the authority of the first beast in its presence, and makes the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound was healed.
Rev 13:13 It performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in front of people,
Rev 13:14 and by the signs that it is allowed to work in the presence of the beast it deceives those who dwell on earth, telling them to make an image for the beast that was wounded by the sword and yet lived.
